Responsibilities
The Case Manager plays a vital role in managing all occupational injury and illness cases at IHS client locations. Working in close collaboration with the Occupational Health Unit (OHU), team members, Safety Officers, and the Workers Compensation Manager, this position ensures optimal care, effective claims management, and regulatory compliance.
Injury and Illness Case Management
- Manage and document workplace injuries and illnesses beyond initial care encounters.
- Enter case data into the Occupational Health Management (OHM) system.
- Collaborate with safety officers to clarify OSHA status of cases.
- Input claims into CINCH through the PMA website and maintain accurate records.
Claims Management
- Process workers’ compensation claims, including those involving:
- Prescription medications (issue temporary ID cards and notify adjustors).
- Team members seeking unauthorized outside medical care.
- Red Flag cases (initiate ISO claims reports and alert leadership).
- Referrals to external providers, specialists, or for diagnostic testing.
- Notify adjustors of key claim updates (e.g., medications, referrals, work status).
Appointment Coordination
- Schedule outside medical appointments and follow-ups.
- Ensure all demographic, claim, and injury information is provided to outside providers.
- Arrange interpreters and transportation, when necessary.
- Communicate appointments and work restrictions with supervisors and HR Business Partners (HRBPs).
- Ensure medical records, test results, and job descriptions are provided for outside care.
Ongoing Case Follow-Up
- Monitor medical progress through communication with providers and therapists.
- Update OHM documentation, especially when administrative support is unavailable.
- Track no-shows and follow up with internal and external providers.
- Maintain communication with ATCs and supervisors to ensure proper accommodation of restrictions.
Collaboration and Communication
- Build strong relationships with medical providers to facilitate quality care.
- Respond to subpoenas and legal requests with relevant medical documentation.
- Send and receive documentation from adjustors, attorneys, and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the Workers Compensation Manager on claim strategy and resolution.
- Communicating lost time cases to Supervisor, HRBP, and Insurance company
Compliance and Reporting
- Track and report on team members with open claims who are terminated.
- Submit medical releases and schedule surveillance when needed.
- Provide invoices and documentation to PMA for reimbursement or case updates.

Responsibilities

- Plan, prepare and carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
- Perform and document an initial exam, evaluating data to identify problems and determine a diagnosis prior to intervention.
