The Athletic Trainer – Injury Prevention Specialist position is in an occupational medicine setting.

Required Qualifications/ Skills
- Athletic Training BOC Certification/License in good standing in Michigan
- Self-motivated Independent thinker; ability to work without direct supervision
- Clinical competency in orthopedic evaluation skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills with individuals and in a group setting
- Basic understanding of ergonomic principles to perform ergonomic screens
- Comfortable providing services in various work environments including meat packing production facilities, warehouses and occupation health units.
Responsibilities
Workplace injury prevention requires a systematic and comprehensive approach throughout the employee experience. The athletic trainer’s expertise and insightful skills are highly respected in our organization. As an on-site clinical specialist, you provide unique interventions at various levels. Early identification of signs and symptoms prevents an injury from becoming disabling and reduces lost time, medical costs, stress, operational losses, and turnover.
- Evaluate low-level injuries
- Triage musculoskeletal complaints/identify work environment dangers
- Evaluate and determine root-cause
- Complete post-offer pre-employment testing with partner company’s new hires
- Creating and maintaining injury prevention programs
- Stretching programs
- Job rotations
- Ergonomic administrative controls
- Assisting safety as a resource for incident investigation
- Team member education
- Performing tasks outside of primary responsibilities when needed
